After the grand celebration of Readytex Art Gallery’s 25th anniversary in February, it is already time for the third Thursday-Night-Feature (TNF) of this year, on Thursday, March 1st. Taking his turn this time around, is visual artist Sunil Puljhun, an artist who is best known for his predominantly dark, black and white works. At his TNF of Thursday March the 1st, Puljhun shares several of his new works with the public, while also holding a presentation in which he elaborates upon his ideas regarding form and his 3D-concepts.
Sunil Puljhun experiments with new concepts and themes on a regular basis. He does however, revert back to the theme that speaks to him most, every time: children. Children and the future that we, in our present-day society, are or maybe rather are not, creating for them. The work is sometimes confrontational, sometimes touching, but it always puts us to thinking. And this is indeed his intention. With regards to technique, the artist combines his love for graphic design with his painting skills.
As he did in the past, Sunil also experiments with geometric forms and compositions. Important sources of inspiration are the style of Piet Mondrian and architecture. He wants to take his use of these forms to another level, by transforming them into 3D creations. His ultimate goal is to beautify dull city landscapes with art in public spaces.

Na de grootse viering van 25 jaar Readytex Art Gallery in februari 2018, is het nu tijd voor de derde Thursday-Night-Feature (TNF) van het jaar, op donderdag 1 maart a.s.. De beurt is deze maand aan beeldend kunstenaar Sunil Puljhun, een kunstenaar die bekend staat om zijn overwegend donkere, zwart-witte werken. Puljhun laat op de TNF van donderdag 1 maart enkele nieuwe werken zien en vertelt in een presentatie meer over zijn ideeën over vormen en 3D-concepten.
Sunil Puljhun experimenteert vaker met nieuwe concepten en thema’s. Toch komt hij keer op keer terug bij het thema dat hem het meest aanspreekt: kinderen en de toekomst die wij in onze huidige maatschappij wel of juist niet voor hen creëren. Het werk is soms confronterend, soms aangrijpend, maar zet altijd aan tot nadenken. Dat is ook zijn bedoeling. Wat de techniek betreft, combineert de kunstenaar zijn liefde voor grafisch werk met zijn schilderkunst.
Verder experimenteert Sunil, zoals hij dat vroeger ook al deed, met geometrische vormen en composities. Voor zijn inspiratie put hij onder andere uit de stijl van Piet Mondriaan en uit de architectuur. Met deze vormen wil hij nu verder naar een volgende fase. Hij wil ze uiteindelijk uitvoeren in 3D-werkstukken. En zijn ultieme toekomstwens is stadsverfraaiing met sculpturen in de openbare ruimte.
