On Thursday, November 23, Readytex Art Gallery (RAG) hosts an interactive ‘krutu’ (get-together) with Miami-based multi-disciplinary artist, strategist, advocate and global citizen Tanya Dawkins, who is currently in Suriname as part of the DVCAI (Diaspora Vibe Cultural Arts Incubator) residency program. Instead of a one-sided artist presentation, RAG decided to meet with Tanya in a setting more conducive to interaction and open dialogue, during which she will of course talk about her interesting art and career, as well as her experiences thus far in Suriname.
To pique your curiosity, here is a fragment from Tanya’s bio: “The role of citizens, movements and leadership for the common good are the connective tissue between her art, advocacy and consulting practices. In each realm, she centers art, ideas and concepts that are transforming the world in ways that center liberation, nature, human rights, democracy and a new social contract.”

Op donderdag 23 november organiseert Readytex Art Gallery (RAG) een interactieve ‘krutu’ (samenkomst) met de in Miami gevestigde multidisciplinaire kunstenaar, strateeg, belangenbehartiger en wereldburger Tanya Dawkins, die momenteel in Suriname is als onderdeel van het DVCAI (Diaspora Vibe Cultural Arts Incubator) residentieprogramma . In plaats van een eenzijdige kunstenaarspresentatie heeft RAG besloten Tanya te ontmoeten in een setting die meer bevorderlijk is voor interactie en open dialoog, waarbij ze uiteraard zal vertellen over haar interessante kunst en carrière, evenals over haar ervaringen tot nu toe in Suriname.
Om je nieuwsgierigheid te prikkelen is hier een fragment uit Tanya’s biografie: “De rol van burgers, bewegingen en leiderschap voor het algemeen welzijn is het verbindende weefsel tussen haar kunst, belangenbehartiging en adviespraktijken. In elk domein concentreert ze kunst, ideeën en concepten die de wereld transformeren op manieren die bevrijding, natuur, mensenrechten, democratie en een nieuw sociaal contract centraal stellen.”
